This is one activity we will be doing for our Back to School Extravaganza. There are many different pencil decorating crafts, but many of them seem like they might easily come apart before they even make it to school. This craft idea (courtesy of Martha Stewart) creates a more durable pencil embellishment. In order to do this activity, you need skinny masking tape, acrylic paint (brushes and water), and unpainted pencils. Here is how it is done: 1. Wrap the masking tape around the pencil to create stripes, or longer barber-shop pole type of design. 2. Paint the pencil with your desired colors. 3. Let the paint dry and remove the masking tape. Tada! Durable Designer Pencil!
