Celtic Knots

Celtic knots are cool. Here are two Celtic knot activity ideas: Idea #1: Materials: black and white printed Celtic knot designs, markers, scissors, laminator. Directions: 1. Do a CC (Creative Commons) image search for Celtic knots and print them off. 2. Color the knots with markers, and cut them out. 3. Laminate the knots and hang in your window to create a stained glass effect. Idea #2: Materials: t-shirt yarn (made by cutting strips of t-shirt material and then stretching it out), rope, or thick string. Celtic knots were sometimes used as good luck charms and, unsurprisingly, they are often interpreted as relating to interconnectedness. The Book of Kells is one of the most impressive illuminated manuscripts where the knots appear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Kells).
